Days 5 & 6: 2020 Quarantine Kitchen Remodel

Days 5 & 6 are in the books!

Sorry this is late! It just means there will be two updates today.

Day 5:
Yesterday, hubby finished running the water line and made a trip to town. That really is what our whole remodel update consist of! (Lol)

We did manage to do more shopping! We made the decision that we would have someone lay the floors for ya but we’re struggling with getting responses - just confuses me. Especially with so many out of work. Oh well, we’re turning it over to God and praying that if it’s mean to be we’ll get a return call today! Pray with me, please, that the phone will begin to ring as I have to return to work tomorrow and hubby will need the help.

We did enjoy a great steak dinner last night.

Day 6:

I know the picture is hard to see, but’s it’s Ryan removing the gate that goes to the basement and I thought it was so funny how both the cat and dog were early awaiting and watching, as if there was a treat at the end.

Today I watched a couple of sermons online. So thankful our church (The Altar) is broadcasting online. I so miss going to the Sanctuary and worshiping with others, but we’re still playing it really safe. We’re not going out where there are crowds and other than family and our best friends, we have truly been in quarantine.

As far as the remodel goes, today consisted of packing up stuff. We have lots of stuff!! Taking everything off the walls. Removing curtains. Soliciting help to get the floors laid and big furniture moved downstairs. Also got a couple more items ordered. It’s amazing how big it looks in here with everything off the walls.

Alexis had a birthday party for one of her classmates today and I’m so thankful she got to get out and interact with some friends. It’s been a long three months for us with very limited interaction with anyone other than the three of us. Anyway, I know it was so good for her. She misses her friends so much. I have no idea what we’re going to do if they choose to not let the kids go back to school in the Fall.

That’s really been the reality of our weekend. Not a whole lot got done. At least that’s how it feels.
But, we had an amazing time together this weekend as a family. We even got in a movie last night, “Feel The Beat.” It was so funny. There is nothing greater than to hear laughter and joy from my family. It makes my heart so full! ❤️

Well, this week we are hopeful! We expect the sink to arrive and the flooring put in and start painting. They will also be out this week to measure for the countertops.

It’s a slow process — but it’s going to be so beautiful when it’s finished and we’ll have a sense of pride knowing we did it (mostly) ourselves.

I pray as you're reading this - regardless of the time of day - you stop and give thanks for all of your blessings (big and small), and may your day be full of indescribable blessings!

Many thanks for sharing in our journey and following along. Remember, if you have any ideas, (pro) tips, or advice, or best places to shop that you'd like to share with us - we'd love to hear them. Please comment, or email me, as we will be looking for the most economical (when feasible) way to do this remodel.

Blessings,
Candye~
