Keys To Success

As I am developing my side-business as an Independent Consultant for Rodan + Fields, I have really spent a lot of time reflecting on my personal goals as well as integrating my business goals in with my busy, crazy life.  What I stumbled across these last few weeks have really made me stop and ask myself some really hard questions and praying even more often. One question that I find myself pondering more of lately is the question of "what does success mean to me?"

I begin to think that more often most will agree that the definition of "success" is widely defined depending on what each individual believes makes them successful.  What I have found is that even my own definition has changed throughout the years and as I have grown as an individual, entrepreneur, mother, wife, executive, etc., it continues to change even more often. However, the more I really reflect on what contributed to those changes I find that my 'definition' of success did not change; because at the end of the day Webster's definition still remains the same: "the accomplishment of an aim or purpose." So, therefore, the reality is that my 'aim' and 'purpose' have changed.

I realize that as one grows and develops as an individual they too will see these changes.  If you do not, then you really need to take a step back and ask yourself a few questions:

1) Am I stagnant?
2) Am I resistant to change?
3) What is my aim or purpose?

That's exactly what I've been doing of late; alongside developing a 3-5 year strategy and plan to achieve the goals I have set forth for myself and family. I love a quote I found, "Goals are dreams with deadlines" (by: Diana Scharf Hunt).  Twenty years ago my dreams of success looked much different than what my dreams of success look like today!

If you want to be successful in achieving your goals, you must first start by doing these few simple things:

1. Write them down! If they are not in writing, odds are you will not achieve them.
2. Keep them in front of you at all times. Seeing is believing and believing is seeing.
3. Identify short term, long term and then primary goals. Just saying you have a goal is not enough.
4. Reward yourself! Achieving goals is a big deal & you should celebrate each success (big or small).
5. Be realistic! If you KNOW you are not going to be able to realistically lose 100 lbs in a month - why on earth would you waste your time writing it down and taking up space for a valuable goal? (Yes, that was a little sarcasm! And, You're welcome!)
6. Find an accountability partner! Enlist the help of someone you love and trust that you know will HELP you reach your goals! They can also keep you motivated!
7. Do NOT quit if you miss a deadline! I cannot stress this enough - it is not the end of the world if you have to 'reset' your goal deadlines. However, if you find yourself constantly resetting your deadline then you may want to reconsider the goal as a whole.

I leave you with this final thought... "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." (Winston  Churchill)

Be sure to check back...you never know what I'll write on next...

Have a blessed day....

Truths of Mommy-hood!

Whew! It's been a long couple of days... this is a "hidden truths" behind being the Mommy to a toddler. Don't ever let anyone lie to you, it's true, being a Mommy is hard work. You have to be able to mend things (even when you can't sew), you have to be able to fix dinner (even when you can't cook), you have to be able to do all the things no one else wants to do...like not getting any sleep when your baby is sick and you feel absolutely helpless because there is nothing you can do except walk the floor and pray or hold her when she's tired and cranky but really doesn't want you to hold her, but doesn't want you to put her down either.... that's been my life for the last 72 hours...

Before I continue...please know, this is in NO WAY a complaint blog. If anything, it's an "I'm So Blessed Blog!" I cannot even count the number of times I thank our heavenly Father for my daughter and family daily! I bet sometimes He wishes I would play the quiet game! (lol) But, even through the sleepless nights and tears - because I don't know what to do next - I am absolutely grateful that I am the Mommy! It is a tough job, but it is THE BEST job ever!!

We woke up Friday morning with both of us being sick...I got to feeling better as the weekend closed but my precious little doll did not. So, today I took her to the doctor and low and behold she has Streptococcal Pharyngitis (short: Strep Throat!). Ugh! How could I have missed this?? Was I just not in-tune with her? Did she complain about her throat and I missed it? I've racked my brain trying to figure out how I missed it....so I began 'googling' and searching trying to figure out what the symptoms are and then realized, she probably was carrying the bug last week, when she got sick Friday it caused her little immune system to get weakened and then by yesterday (Sunday) morning when she woke with a fever it was starting to really set in.  She never did complain about her throat until this morning... I knew she was really sick when she told me she was cold. My baby never says she's cold. This is unreal. What? She actually WANTS socks on her feet?!?!? Okay, she's really sick.

So after I quit beating myself up I realized it's just the joys of life and being a blessed Mommy....sure we want to fix everything and make it all better. Truth is, sometimes you just can't. Sometimes you just have to let it run it's course and the antibiotics are in her now and we're on the mend...within 24 hours my little doll will be back to her chipper self - I have Faith!

Ironically, yet again, my daily devotion was right on queue.
I AM LEADING YOU ALONG THE HIGH ROAD, but there are descents as well as ascents. In the distance you see snow-covered peaks glistening in brilliant sunlight. Your longing to reach those peaks is good, but you must not take shortcuts. Your assignment is to follow Me, allowing Me to direct your path. Let the heights beckon you onward, but stay close to Me.
Learn to trust Me when things go "wrong." Disruptions to your routine highlight your dependence on Me. Trusting acceptance of trials brings blessings that far outweigh them all. Walk hand in hand with Me through this day. I have lovingly planned every inch of the way. Trust does not falter when the path becomes rocky and steep. Breathe deep draughts of My Presence, and hold tightly to My hand. Together we can make it.  (John 21:19; 2 Corinthians 4:17; Habakkuk 3:19)
Now if that isn't just perfect for me today I don't know what is. And, the funny part is, it's fitting in so many aspects of my today and the last few weeks. One would think that after as long as I've been serving God I would not continue to be surprised when He shows me the way...yet each time I am! It's like the first time He's bringing me through all over again...just amazing!

I am so glad that her fever has gone down because I absolutely cannot sleep when she has a fever and tonight I am TIRED! But, I'm certain she is too. Poor baby was up most of the night coughing last night and today so I'm so thankful she is getting some relief with this antibiotic.

I want to make something perfectly clear... in my previous blog I posted how I prayed over her and I want it to be very well understood that I DO believe in healing. I also believe in using the common sense the good Lord gave me and the wits to know when I am supposed to take my baby to the doctor. He says to trust in Him - no where in the Bible does it say "be stupid and stay home when your baby needs medicine." I just don't want anyone to misconstrue my words or my Faith and think that I've lost Faith just because we have a family doctor...

I leave you with these final thoughts as I'm exhausted and ready for bed.... Regardless of what you're facing, what trials you're going through, what situation you're in - never take a shortcut. Yes, there will be ups and there will be downs along life's highway - but the key is to keep going, keep your faith in Christ, keep your eyes on the mark (the prize) and put your trust in Him! Taking shortcuts may cause you to miss out on an amazing blessing that's in-store for you and could make all the difference in the world for your calling.  Be Patience, Be Kind, Be Faithful, and Be You!

May God Richly Bless you as you come and go this week!

Thank you all for the continued prayers...they're working so please, keep them coming!

Blessings,
Candye

Thankful Heart...

Today we had an interesting day! I was able to get in a quick blog this morning while she slept, got a little work done (for both ARSI and R+F), but then the day halted as my baby girl woke up with a horrible cough and wheezing. My first instinct was to run her to the doctor because I hate seeing her sick, then I quickly remembered that I serve a mighty God that is still in the healing business...so I sent a couple of texts to some prayer warriors and asked for prayers. Then I prayed for her myself. We are all given the gift of being able to pray over our children, our issues + problems, and situations. The Bible tells us to Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:16). And that is just what I did. I firmly believe in the power of prayer!

Thank goodness for my sister... I did not want to get her out so my sister brought over some decongestant and more medicine. It is so nice to have them so close to us!!  After my brother-in-law and sister-in-law moved to Germany we were the lone rangers here in KS...so it's nice to have family close again.  She also, being the awesome Auntie she is, brought her a 'feel better gift.'  It is an Anna (from Frozen) piggy bank that she got to paint. She was so excited! She loves FROZEN so this was a huge hit with her.  She went right to painting as soon as I figured out how to disassemble the box it came in. I tell you, they certainly make toys so hard to get into and get out of boxes these days.  You almost have to have a special degree or secret code... (smile) She climbed up to the table, I got it all prepared, and she went to painting, and before I knew it she was mixing all of the colors and painting away. It was so fun to just sit and watch her concentrate and focus. What was even more funny was when I tried to "help" her with the color pallets and help her chose which colors went where... she quickly said, "No thank you."  I knew then that this was going to be her own unique painting and it would be beautiful when she finished!

She still isn't feeling very good, so we did not get to go to church, which we both missed, but we did manage to get in some play time again today.  She wanted to play Candy Land in her Frozen tent. It was a little crowded for both of us but we managed. We climbed in and counted all of the colors on the board, mixed the rules all up to fit our own needs and she allowed us both to be winners!!

My morning devotion was so fitting for the day -- yet again!!
COME TO ME WITH A THANKFUL HEART, so that you can enjoy My Presence. This is the day that I have made. I want you to rejoice today, refusing to worry about tomorrow. Search for all that I have prepared for you, anticipating abundant blessings and accepting difficulties as they come. I can weave miracles into the most mundane day if you keep your focus on Me.  Come to Me with all your needs, knowing that My glorious riches are a more-than-adequate supply. Stay in continual communication with Me, so that you can live above your circumstances even while you are in the midst of them. Present your requests to Me with thanksgiving, and My Peace, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your heart and mind. (Psalm 118:24; Philippians 4:19, 6:-7)
Isn't it just like God to show up and show out on a day that He already knew I would be facing! I just LOVE that He loves me enough to allow me to come to Him with all my wants and needs! And, the best part is, He supplies them!! It may not be on my time-frame - because certainly I wanted instant healing and well, my precious baby girl is still not feeling good - BUT I TRUST and BELIEVE that My God will heal her and this junk will run it's course and she WILL be better before we know it.  This reminds me that so often we get frustrated or discouraged thinking that God must not have heard our cries or our pleas for the desires of our hearts, but it's not our time, it's His time! I learned that 4 years ago when He finally gave me the desires of my heart and blessed our family with this precious little darlin', Alexis! We waited eighteen (18) years, yes, that is not a typo, we found out our IvF took on our 18 year anniversary and there is nothing in this world I could have received that would have made me happier. You see... we just have to learn to not give up! Regardless what you're praying for...take it to Jesus, leave it at His feet and then TRUST Him and LET Him do the rest.

Oh, I must not forget to share with you all the finished product of my precious daughter's painting today.... Isn't it wonderful... unique...? (big smile).

Remember, whatever your needs are - don't spend any more time complaining or doubting...but take your needs to the Cross and then leave them there... we serve a Mighty God!! He will deliver... in His time - which is always perfect timing!

Have a blessed week!!

Small Business Tips

Many have asked me, "how in the world do you find time to do all you do?" Well, the more I got to thinking about it, I thought, 'how in the world do I find time to do all I do?'

I quickly realized that I have a VERY good support system around me. I am surrounded by wonderful family and friends and I rely heavily on social media and apps to run my second business, Rodan + Fields. So, I thought I would take the time to share a few small business tips with you this morning before my daughter wakes up. That's tip #1.

#1 Maximize your "down-time." I have a full-time career as an executive, a Mommy to a toddler and a wife, not to mention a daughter, sister, friend, animal owner...etc. These all require time and attention (see blog from yesterday, Sleepover On The Kitchen Floor).  As discussed yesterday, I have to find quality time for my family, which means time management is even more instrumental.

#2 Identify what's most urgent, what can wait, and what will literally blow up if it's not done at this very moment. I use the old "Stephen R. Covey Rules"... I live by an old fashioned planner. It's predominately for the office, but occasionally I have to slip a few personal items in there just to ensure they get done and I don't lose focus on the over-arching picture....after all, remember, until yesterday I had no work-life balance.

#3 I rely heavily on social media and apps. I have this amazing app that Sarah Rocking Robbins suggested, "Buffer." It's simply amazing. I can load things on the weekend (in my spare time...lol) and there are schedules I can set for all of my social media sites, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+ Page. I had to upgrade to the purchased app because the simple starter one would not allow me to sync more than 1 or 2 social media pages...and with my side business, Rodan + Fields, I need as much exposure on social media as possible (or at least what's recommended). Clearly I cannot be available to post things at the recommended highlight times for social media due to my primary job as an executive - therefore I have to get creative!

#4 Learn what's important and what's not.... It's taken me years to perfect this one...and I'm still far from perfect on it because I am a 'fixer' and I want everyone to feel important and like they're #1 in my books. In reality, my God is #1, my family is #2, my work and other things are prioritized thereafter. That's really a hard one to learn and implement. Otherwise, I was constantly always running around the mountain and never climbing to the top.....

#5 Last (for this blog) - but certainly the most important... Never forget that you're important too. You MUST find quiet time to think if you're ever going to make changes in the lives of others, you have to start with your own.

If you're struggling with how to start your own side business, or you initial start-up, find quiet time, find the resources of others who can help you -- there are brilliant people all around you...use them. But never forget to repay them for their help...taking advantage of others may get you to the top but you certainly won't stay there long and the fall will hurt! Be respectful, courteous, and never forget to say 'please' and 'thank you'! Check back...you never know what I'll write on next...

Have a blessed day!

Sleepover On The Kitchen Floor....

Sometimes you just have to throw caution to the wind, do something really silly and fun, and never worry about what others think! Toddlers bring out the best in you! They teach you how to use your imagination, how to live without fear, feel with your heart and pretend you're a Super Hero!

Not sure why she chose the kitchen floor - but my sweet girl decided that we were going to pretend to have a sleepover and it was in the kitchen floor. Immediately I went into "Mommy-mode" asking if she was hungry? She replied with, "I not hungry. Lay down, Mommy, let's have a sleepover." I found myself curled up in a spooning position behind her and we were laying on the floor with nothing more than the rug in front of the kitchen sink as our pillow and her my little pony blanket over us. She quickly jumped up and said, "I cannot nap without my blue bunny" and just that fast she was off and running to find Mr. Bunny! Just a few seconds later, she came back with her bunny and my cell phone. I asked her if we could at least have a pillow (I admit, the tile was a little cold and hard). Off she went to retrieve us a pillow. When she came back she informed me that she was the Mommy and I was her daughter and it was time to take a nap. She curled up in front of me, with the bunny in her arms and the blanket over us. Needless to say we never did go to sleep. It was soon time to get up, get dressed, and get ready for school. (LOL) Clearly she was reenacting our every day routine.

I found myself in tears several times throughout this whole pretend episode because I remembered a time when I could only dream of having a daughter that would want to play dress up with, play dolls with, and to be a Mommy too.  What I realized today, again, is that my dreams have become a reality and I do have the most amazing little girl that loves me regardless of my imperfections and flaws, she doesn't care that I'm overweight, or the length of my hair, the style of my clothes (at least not yet). What is most important to her is that I am HERE with her. That I am PRESENT when she needs my attention and that I find time to sit my phones down and not work all the time and just enjoy being her Mommy and pretending to nap even if it's on the kitchen floor.

It was so fun to have this day with her, especially considering we have both been under the weather the last couple of days - so to see her energy level coming back and feeling better was much welcomed, and good for a worrying Momma's heart. I realized today that I need more play time with my daughter, I need more pretend sleepovers on the kitchen floor and more overall quality time with my daughter. I spend so much time worried about being able to quickly respond to a work email, text, a personal text, or even a phone call. Today I changed that. After we took our fun pictures in the kitchen and one of her reading her Bible to me - I put the phones on silent and set them aside. I focused on her. I played with her. We played patty-cake, she drove me to school and asked me not to cry when she left for work...(that one broke my heart). But what I realized is that my baby girl is growing up too fast and I am missing it. It's literally passing me by and I made the decision today that I am going to prioritize my time and priorities better. I am going to turn the phones on silent and I am going to focus on spending quality time with my baby girl and my husband.

It's a known statistic that 80% of what children learn come from outside influences (outside of the home) and parents truly only have about 20% impact/influence on a child. If I'm always so busy then I'm not even giving her that 20%. I'm not saying I'm going to neglect my career, but I am saying 2016 is going to be the year that I find work-life balance. I highly encourage everyone to take time to have a sleepover on the kitchen floor with your child, cuddle up on the couch with your spouse and let them know they're #1 in your life. Life is too short to have regrets and Lord knows I have plenty so it's time to take back my life, start enjoying my time with my family and letting other things take a backseat for a while; and if the outside world doesn't appreciate that then they are the ones that are missing out and maybe they should consider doing the same thing. 2015 was a hard year...I seen a family destroyed by a son that was taken too soon, 2016 has started out with some similar circumstances and well, and I simply choose to make some changes and do something about it. I pledge to live in the here and now - to enjoy quality time with my family - to spend more quality time in prayer with my Lord - more time on the kitchen floor having a sleepover with my precious daughter. I look back and think of all the times that were so important to me that many of my (what I thought were) closest friends weren't there for me and it's time I stop being there for everyone else. I guess you can say, today I have had a personal breakthrough -- and all because my precious daughter asked me to have a pretend sleepover on the kitchen floor. I realize I cannot change yesterday, and I probably won't change overnight, but I certainly can work on being a better Mommy, wife, daughter, christian, etc.... and it started today!

It's ironic, because my morning devotion was:
"Come to me, and rest in My loving Presence. You know that this day will bring difficulties, and you are trying to think your way through those trials. As you anticipate what is ahead of you, you forget that I am with you - now and always. Rehearsing your troubles results in experiencing them many times, whereas you are meant to go through them only when they actually occur. Do not multiply your suffering in this way! Instead, come to Me, and relax in My Peace. I will strengthen you and prepare you for this day, transforming your fear into confident trust." (Matthew 11:28-30; Joshua 1:5-9)

I leave you with these final thoughts: live for today and let tomorrow come as it may! Worrying doesn't do anything except rob you of your inner peace and your moments of joy. Place your faith and trust in God and know that He holds the future! If your heart is pure and you have the right intentions, then those that are meant to be in your life will and it will be wonderful! Let your God come first and then your family a close second and the rest can be prioritized accordingly.  May God bless you and your family abundantly and may you find quality time with those you love!

Blessings,
Candye

Dreams Do Come True

2016 has certainly started out wonderful! I'm so blessed with amazing and supportive family and friends. There comes a point where you should stop and think about the future. Everyone always says to live for today, and while that's true you have to plan for the future.

That's why when I was approached by my baby sister with a business opportunity I jumped on it (okay, maybe not at first...maybe she had to work me a little...so it technically was after a few short months of her convincing).  So, I started my side business as an Independent Consultant with Rodan + Fields Dermatologists not because I don't love my current career, and I have no plans of leaving anytime soon...but, sometimes God places things in your path that you must learn to stop and listen and then be willing to move when he nudges you!

We held our business launch party last week and we were so blessed that my dear high school friend (Amy) drove 400+ miles to help host it. Who would have ever thought 20+ years later we would be business partners.....crazy how life happens.

Before she left, to make her long trip back to Texas, we took a challenge from one of the up-line partners to go take our pictures with a Lexus. Once you achieve a certain level in R+F you earn a Lexus....HOW EXCITING!  So off to the dealership at lunch we went...

I share this because in order to ever achieve anything you must have a dream, then you must believe in it and yourself; but more importantly you must be willing to work for it!  I so believe that I will earn my Lexus this year. It reminded me of when I dreamt of being a Mommy and because I never gave up on that dream I now have my sweet Alex!

One of her dreams was to have a kitty....although she wanted a blue one we ended up with a solid black one.... Meet "Brox." He's a little hard to see because he's so black but he's adorable!

Whatever you dream you can achieve it....but you have to work at it. Odds are you wont just have someone "give you your kitten" - you have to go get it!!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬)

Go make your dreams come true!

Have a blessed day!

Finding Your Purpose!

Sometimes life moves so fast that you often forget what you were doing, or why you started your journey; then something magical happens and it's like everything comes back and you remember what you started and why.

That's what happened to me this last week.  I have been running so fast, burning the candle at both ends, and I almost "forgot" my purpose...then it happened. While my family was watching a movie, my daughter comes over and grabs my hand, then places it in my husbands hand, and to make it complete she wrapped her little tiny fingers around my thumb. It was like time stood still and all was right in the universe again. I looked up at my husband, with tears in my eyes, and whispered, "this is perfect." He smiled so sweet and nodded his head in agreement.

Mark Twain said, "The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why."

For many years I struggled with where God wanted me to be, who he wanted me to be and what he wanted me to do. It wasn't until I became a Mother that I really found my purpose; not to just be a Mommy but it was like that is when I slowed down long enough to really "listen!" I found out that when you stop and listen you learn SO much!

I realized that God has been placing me where he wants me to be all along. I am right where he needs me. You see, I started a new career adventure shortly after Alexis was born (4 months to be exact) and who would have known what these two precious owners would face in the very near future. Sometimes you don't understand, and that's okay; stop trying to find out why and just trust God, seek His guidance and then be obedient! THAT, my friends, is when you will find your purpose.

Be careful to not try to "make" your plans God's plans...just a little tip....it won't work out anyway... (Big smile)!

"The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands." Psalms 138:8

Praying blessings and prosperity as you journey into 2016! Be Patient! Be Kind! Be Obedient! Be A Servant!

Hugs~

New Years Resolution

What is your NEW YEAR'S resolution?
If your New Year's Resolution is to get out of debt, enjoy life more, help others, get more family time, make a change, or get a new job then we need to chat...

Here are the Top Ten Reasons to partner with me and Rodan + Fields ...
1) Own your own business and have tax write-offs galore all year long (btw: your skincare, your iphone bill, and internet are all a tax write offs!);
2) Partner with the Proactiv Doctors (a household name & billion dollar brand) in their NEXT BIG Company! They revolutionized Infomercials. Now they are revolutionizing E-commerce Sales;
3) Anti-Age is a $3.9 Billion business in North America - Own a piece of it and help expand Rodan + Fields globally.
4) Get your business started just in time to help all your friends' and family's New Year's Resolutions to look better and feel better;
5) No inventory, No deliveries, No collecting money, No returns, No parties.
6) We live in a Web based world ...so does Rodan + Fields. Everything is done online around your job/family/life;
7) Qualify to earn your investment back, commissions and bonuses in your first full month. Perks include luxury trips, bonus $, incentives, and a Lexus vehicle of your choice...not bad;
8) Rodan + Fields has product support, shipping support, team support, training, and dermatological nurses. You are in business for yourself, not by yourself!
9) Your fringe benefit is the best skin of your life . . . with a 60 day guarantee on products and business.
10) There are loads of perks to the life of a 1099er.

Contact me and I will get you the details in 10 min and at least find out for yourself what I'm always rambling on about. Work can be fun AND lucrative. Make 2016 your year and check off those resolutions for real this time.

Unlimited Opportunity

Okay......Remember when Amazon first got started and everyone moaned about how their product distribution model would never work? LOL! Now they are testing out drone delivery! SAY WHAT?!?!? Amazon created their OWN niche. They capitalized on a market most of us could not even see yet! THAT, my friends, is what I saw when I took a closer look at Rodan + Fields 3 years ago.

I saw:

Unlimited opportunity for growth

A company that was breaking the mold

BRAND RECOGNITION...And not just any brand recognition... A BRAND that is recognized around the WORLD!

GLOBAL Expansion

CLINICAL Trial backed products and results

Products created for the skin by DERMATOLOGISTS (the experts on skin!)

The opportunity to build a legacy with a business you can WILL to your CHILDREN or even sell!!!!!

Unlimited Opportunities for growth in a MULTI-BILLION dollar market

Time Freedom

Doorstep Delivery (not by me!)

Contact me to get in on the wealth! Time to expand your vision and your pockets!

New Years Resolutions

Do me a favor……and follow along with me. I'm going to ask you to raise your hand when prompted:

1. Raise your hand if you know people who have skin (or have skin yourself)
2. Raise your hand if you or someone you know has purchased something online
3. Raise your hand if you get on Facebook and or other social media sites
4. Raise your hand if you want great skin
5. Raise your hand if you currently wash your face
6. Raise your hand if you would like to make a little (or a lot) of extra income!
Ok. Take a break. Your hand is probably tired! :))

I KNOW that your hand was up for at least #1 and #3, and for MOST of you, probably up for all of them.

If you raised your hand even once, I want to talk ASAP! Did you know that Rodan + Fields is only 8 years young and are the 4th largest Premium skin care brand in North America?! Don't you want to be a part of that!?
Let's talk details. I want everyone on this journey to great skin, financial freedom and time freedom! Let's find out what works best for you!
Happy New Year!!
